| General Education Metropolitan Community College’s (MCC) mission at its inception had a vocational-technical focus, providing students entry-level career training for workforce success. Today this focus continues. The College’s first priority to the community, as defined by the Coordinating Commission of Postsecondary Education, is to provide applied technology and occupational education. However, MCC’s mission has evolved over the years to a full-service community college which includes not only vocational-technical training but also transfer education. Throughout the years, the College has reviewed its general education requirements. More recently, cognizant of MCC’s increased role as a comprehensive community college with a broader and more complex mission, the Educational Services Leadership Group recognized the need to revisit, review and refine the College’s approach to general education core requirements.
