telecourses

Initiated in 1984, college telecourses are licensed programs from the Public Broadcasting Station and other consortia licensed telecourse offerengs.  These offerings followed the national textbook/videotape model and were the first of an evolving trio of options for students.  Telecourses provide a unique opportunity for students to take college-level classes in the
convenience of their own homes or at their work site.  Metro offers three telecourse sessions a year – in the fall, winter/spring and summer. Over 45 telecourses may be offered in one term. Students complete courses by viewing preproduced lessons
on videotapes, reading the text(s), completing assignments and communicating with instructors via telephone, campus visits and / or e-mail.  Telecourses are nationally produced, award-winning programs and enable students to study a variety of topics.

Instructional Design Services provides support for all aspects of telecourse preparation from tape duplication to student orientation. Telecourse Orientation
