 The following websites provide a variety of resources related to International/Intercultural Education.

  CultureGrams

  CultureGrams is provided through the MCC Library Services. A Metro ID number is  required for off-campus access.

  Portals to the World

  The Library of Congress has a site called Portals to the World which includes links to electronic resources from around the world.
 

American Council for International/Intercultural Education-  The Council is the advocate for community colleges in the global arena, using its collective expertise to facilitate programs, activities, and linkages in international and intercultural education. Fall and Spring ACIIE Conferences are highly recommended for personnel within community colleges wanting to develop international and intercultural education programs.  http://www.aciie.org

NAFSA-  Association of International Educators promotes the exchange of students and scholars to and from the United States. The members share a belief that international educational exchange advances learning and scholarship, builds respect among different peoples and encourages constructive leadership in a global community.  http://nafsa.org

NAFSA Region II- Association of International Educators, Region II, covers the states of Arizona, Colorado, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, New Mexico, Utah and Wyoming.  http://nafsa2.org

ForeignBorn- This is the website for all foreign-born individuals

Fulbright Grants-  The Fulbright Program is recognized as the U.S. government's flagship program in International educational exchange. Fulbright grants are made to U.S. citizens and nationals of other countries for a variety of educational activities, primarily university lecturing, advanced research, graduate study and teaching in elementary and secondary schools.  http://www.cies.org

Nebraska Arts Council-  The Council promotes, cultivates and sustains the arts for the people of Nebraska. Their website includes an Online Cultural Calendar, upcoming arts events, an artist directory and information about available grants to support arts projects.  http://www.nebraskaartscouncil.org

The National Security Education Program-  The National Security Education Program administers grants to individuals and institutions for projects that will lead in developing the national capacity to educate United States citizens to: understand foreign cultures, strengthen US economic competitiveness, and enhance international cooperation and security.  http://www.ndu.edu/nsep/index.htm

Census Data-  This web site provides census data by race by state - For example Kansas Hispanic population was 114,000 in 1995, 138,000 estimated for 2000, and 166,000 estimated for 2005. The best data for immigration is the INS but their data is only published through 1996 and the more recent data is reported to the Census people which is currently being updated (over the next 2 years) for 2000. If you have time you might want to call the local INS office and see if they can provide local current data.  http://www.census.gov/population/projections/state/stpjrace.txt

US Foreign Born Population-  Click on CPS March 99 "Report" for a document on US foreign born population.  http://www.census.gov/population/www/socdemo/foreign.html

U.S. Department of State-   The website offers various Travel & Living Abroad topics as well as information for visitors and students coming to the USA.  http://state.gov/

The Omaha Sister City Association-   The association fosters and encourages good will and understanding through partnerships with cities in Japan, Germany, and Lithuania.  http://www.omahasistercities.com/

American Indian Higher Education Consortium-  The (AIHEC) supports the work of 32 Tribal Colleges and the national movement for tribal self-determination.  http://www.aihec.org/
