Maya Cu:
poetisa maya Maya Cu nació en la ciudad de Guatemala en 1968 y es maestra de educación primaria. Asistió a la Universidad de San Carlos de Guatemala y ha participado en muchas actividades artísticas enfocadas en la música, la poesía y el teatro. Sus poemas han sido publicados en revistas, periódicos y antologías. Su primera publicación fue una colección titulada Poemaya que se incluyó en una antología de la obra de cinco poetas jóvenes guatemaltecos, titulado Novísimos y publicado en 1996. Su primera publicación individual es La rueda, otra colección hermosa de su poesía. En su obra se nota su lucha continua por hurgar en el dolor y comprenderlo. A veces es dolor provocado por el amor y lo que trae al ser humano, y otras veces es el dolor provocado por la injusticia y la violencia. Maya Cu alza el espejo para reflejar la realidad individual y la de su país. Esta reflexión desentapará la identidad personal y social. Maya Cu was born in Guatemala City in 1968 and is a primary school teacher. She attended the University of San Carlos-Guatemala and has participated in a number of artistic activities revolving around music, poetry and theater. Her poetry has been published in magazines, newspapers and anthologies. Her first publication was a collection of her poetry entitled Poemaya which was included in Novísimos, an anthology of the work of five young Guatemalan poets, published in 1996. Her first individual publication is La rueda, another beautiful collection of her poetry. In her work the constant struggle to search through the pain to reach an understanding of it. At times it's the pain provoked by love and all it means for people, and other times it's the pain provoked by injustice and violence. Maya Cu extends the hand mirror, allowing it to reflect the individual human reality, but also that of her country. This act of reflection reveals both personal and social identity.
